“Some will rejoice over their deaths like the blood-thirsty mob watching a beaten gladiator hacked to death while others may cry for not allowing a confessed sinner to have a second chance in life.”
The Philippines is going through a daily “purge” of alleged drug users and pushers committed by “vigilantes”. Their deaths have become a daily staple of the local newspapers with most of the Filipinos accepting their deaths as a way to clean the crime-ridden society. It doesn’t matter whether the dead is guilty or not, whether the dead is just caught in the crossfire, or whether the dead is just a bystander whom the killer mistook as a drug pusher, as long as the body bags keep on coming. John, this is not just about drugs. They are killing people for the fun of it! They may say they were pushers or drug users but they don’t really give a shit.
Ompong, I also did not know about this, but between what I’ve heard from my Filipino in-laws,as well as having reading FJ Batacan’s “Smaller & Smaller Circles,” it doesn’t really surprise me. Also they did something similar in Brazil, El Salvador & several other 3rd world countries.
There are a lot of sick people in the world today, people who think money is more sacred than life itself, people who will have millions that just sits in the bank rather than having it out in the world where it could allow people to live a life of dignity.
I am saddened by these activities, but even more saddened by the people who find an excuse to NOT CARE.
Peace, love & justice for all,
Sherrie

You’re absolutely correct, Sherrie… these users lose their minds under the influence of drugs and most of the times, murder people just for “kicks”. Sorry for the late reply, Sherrie, your comment was tagged by WordPress as “Spam” and I don’t know why. I usually use the mobile android version of WordPress. Cheers!

In less than a month, there’s about 300 reported extra-judicial killings in the country. We don’t know how many for the”unreported”. It’s a pity this is happening…
