Holy Week: Penance or Have Fun

Is Holy Week still relevant to the Catholics and does it really matter now or is it just a dying Catholic tradition with its meaning slowly translating into just a long weekend of respite from the daily grind?

Ika nga ni Ompong

Is the observance of the Holy Week still relevant today for the practicing Catholics?

… When most of them are spending the holy week in beaches and resorts and posting these on social media for everyone to see how much fun they are getting?

… When most of them are having a good time eating and drinking with their relatives and friends at their hometown province?

… And when most of them are relaxing on stay-cation mode?

Is Holy Week still relevant to the Catholics and does it really matter now or is it just a dying Catholic tradition with its meaning slowly translating into just a long weekend of respite from the daily grind?
