I recently notice in facebook that hundreds or thousands of people are saying “Amen” on pictures of mutilated babies and people they don’t even know without realizing that the word “Amen” means “so be it” — are they saying this out of “religious showmanship” or are they saying “so be it” because they want these poor people mutilated with their pictures shared on the net?
I am strongly against using other people’s misfortune just to get hundreds or thousands of likes in Facebook! My perception of this kind of posts is just to gain likes in the social network without ever considering the feelings of those left behind by the dead people which the “poster” may not even know. Where do they get these pictures? And what on earth is a mutilated body of a dead person got to do with being “religious”?
Sorry if I hurt the feelings of some of the people who will be reading this… I just want to say that I do not approve this kind of insensitivity!
I have learned to ignore them. I have so many priests friends but they don’t evangelize the way these lay people do. And those “sick” photos, I have learned to click the option not to see them whenever I get one of those. I learned it when my friend got something in her timeline with a gallery of snakes and I really hated it and called her attention in FB and threatened to unfriend her if she didn’t remove it but a couple of people told me to click the option.

I agree with you! “Like to save the child’s life” kind of posts are so stupid! It’s just people being greedy for likes without thinking about the ones in the photos suffering.

Exactly my point. And others are even encouraging it by liking…

Seriously, if you want to help then go and donate in charities, people just like and think of themselves as saints.

… And brag that they are “religious”. The world will not change by just liking posts and saying prayers for the public to see.

OMG! This kind of posts annoys me too. I hate it when they post something like, “Comment Amen if you love Jesus” or “Comment Amen if you wanna go to heaven.” Puh-lease. As a Christian, I find it completely stupid. As if saying Amen makes them a better person or makes the situation better. They’re all doing it blindly. It’s all for the likes! I completely ignore this kind of posts. (I was gonna post something about this too. Glad you did it!)

I totally agree with you! You can delete or alter this but I say to hell with Facebook. Just never wanted anything to do with the cesspool it is.
